Gridmap: take control of your mapping tables and get AI suggestions in real time
The distance between a spreadsheet of mappings and a trustworthy report is often too large. Multiple versions of the same file, hard-coded lookup tables and key-person dependencies steal time and erode confidence in the numbers. We built Gridmap, a platform where every mapping, registry and business rule lives in one auditable place, with optional rule-based AI that suggests the right value the moment new data appears.
The problem we solve
Maintaining mapping tables usually happens in several slow steps:
- Mapping files live scattered across SharePoint, email and hard-coded SQL
- Nobody is sure which version is the current one
- New source values appear and fall silently through the cracks
- When a report breaks, root-cause analysis takes hours or days
The result is high friction, long lead times and reports built on assumptions instead of facts.
How the governed registry is built
gridmap continuously syncs from your source systems and maintains an up-to-date source of truth for:
- GridMaps, visual mapping tables from source value to canonical value
- Data registries, versioned reference tables with row-level security
- Business rules and transformations that drive your reporting
- Scheduled delta sync that detects new and changed values automatically
The registry updates when the source updates. It doesn't lag, it doesn't grow stale and it needs no manual upkeep.
How it works for end users
Controllers, analysts and data stewards work in an interface that feels like a spreadsheet but carries the governance Excel was never built for:
- Search across values, mappings and registries instantly
- Review AI suggestions with confidence scores and approve in one click
- Get notifications in email, Slack or Teams when something needs review
- See full history: who changed what, when and why
Users see only the data they're entitled to. Finance sees finance codes, operations sees operations data.
AI suggestions based on your actual data
When new source values appear, the AI matches them against your existing registry to suggest the right mapping:
- Each suggestion arrives with a confidence score
- High-confidence values can be auto-approved, low ones queued for review
- Custom instructions per definition guide the AI on your domain and edge cases
- Bring your own AI key: Anthropic, OpenAI or Google
Typical accuracy is above 80% on common code mappings. Humans stay in control and the AI removes the repetitive work.
From registry to delivery
Once the mappings are in place they're delivered straight into your systems:
- A simple REST API for single lookups or batch queries up to 1,000 per call
- API keys with per-key permission scoping
- BI tools, ETL jobs and applications all read from the same fresh source
- Full audit log on every access and every change
Tips for getting started fast
- Start with a mapping that hurts today, such as vendor names, cost centers or product codes
- Import your existing Excel file directly. Columns and data types are detected automatically
- Let the AI propose mappings and review only the low-confidence ones
- Schedule a daily delta sync so new values are captured automatically
